Final Round of Play-Offs – Postponed to November 4

 

After a week's break, and a lot of rain, everyone should be ready to play the final position round. Clocks will be set back one hour on Saturday night, so the start times for the first game at each location will be 9:00 AM. and second game will start about 10:15 (this will be like playing an hour later, daylight wise, compared to this week). The schedule for Sunday Nov. 4 is the same as originally announced for this past Sunday, as follows (teams listed first are "home"):

  1. While player sharing is required to prevent forfeits, the borrowing team must have at least seven of their own, and the lending team must have more than ten. Up to three players can be shared, assuming the lending team has more than ten. Any other arrangements are negotiated by captains to avoid forfeits.

 

  1. Double headers start at 9:00 am. Team captains can agree to play earlier, with prior notification of the umpires’ association weekend assigner. Decisions not to play must be phoned in by team captains 2 hours before game to:  Umpire weekend assigner, Bill Savage 240-375-3636 umpire1vp@aol.com.

 

  1. Spring League rules for play, however, Fallball eligibility rules allow “grandfathered” players and require sharing of players, when players are available on one team and needed by the other. Sons of players below 18 are eligible (by popular request).

 

  1. New or Like New (44 core red stitch) balls will be used. Disputes will be resolved by consensus of 3 neutral team captains.

 

  1. TEAM FEE for 16 games is $250. Checks should be made to the Shaare Tefila Men’s Club and mailed to Michael Binder, 1821 Cullen Dr. Silver Spring, MD 20905.

 

  1. ALL SCORES MUST BE REPORTED TO MICHAEL BINDER BY MONDAY EVENING at (301) 384-2837 home or (301) 908-2284 cell or News, scores and standings will be posted at www.synagogue-softball.org/

 

Ties in the standings for playoff position will be broken by record 1. head to head; 2. wins against common opponents; 3. flip a coin. Rainouts will not be made up, unless it is the playoffs.
